Welcome to Your Zen for the Day

Welcome to this blog and check out our Facebook page where there will always be beautiful pictures and thoughts to give you a moment of zen in your crazy busy day.

I am a single working mom and I struggle daily with making time for myself.  It feels selfish.  All of the books and articles compare their advice to that of flight attendants, "in case of emergency, put your own oxygen mask on first."  Parents of all types (single, married, working, stay-at-home) know that sometimes you just can't.  Seriously, somedays a five-minute shower is a luxury.

A few years ago, before I had kids but was crazy-busy with work and volunteer commitments, I started posting beautiful pictures on my Facebook page with the caption "Your zen for the day."  I tried to keep it to one to avoid annoying my friends and family but some days there were more.  At one point, when I was a little more organized, I had them auto-scheduled for almost a month in advance.  Each day, it was a little bright spot for myself and anyone who happened to see it.  I went through a rough patch and it went away.  I didn't even notice at first, and I still occasionally shared photos from those same sites that I had started following to get them.  But recently I brought them back.  And I remembered why I did it.  And then the most amazing thing happened.  A friend started posting them to her own page and tagging me!  It exposed me to a whole new source of beautiful moments.  And made me think that when someone, even one person, sees something that beautiful, they think of me.  It made me want to not forget these small moments in my day-to-day.  So the idea for this blog and the Facebook page was created.

I'll post everyone else's beautiful pictures and wonderful quotes over on the Facebook page and I'll use this blog to share ideas for finding those small moments of "me time" during busy schedules.  I want to see your favorite pictures and ideas, too!!!!!  Together we can make 2016 one we remember rather than one we sit back and say "where did that year go?"

What is #yourzenfortheday?
